The American Association of Orthodontists recommends children have an orthodontic evaluation by age 7. Orthodontists identify and treat common issues in young kids because orthodontic procedures for adults often take more time and can involve tooth extraction or oral surgery. By 13, most kids have lost all their baby teeth, and by the end of their teens, their jaw has finished developing, making childhood an ideal time to begin treatment.
Kids’ orthodontic problems can be inherited or caused by injury to the mouth, early or late loss of baby teeth, or thumb-sucking. We treat any issues, which include crowding or wide spacing of the teeth, jaw growth problems, protruding teeth, and bad bites.
If your child is between the ages of 7 and 8, please schedule an appointment. Dr. Jones will do an initial exam and discuss the best path to care for your child's smile.
